Guest Speakers
Rock Valley Heritage Kiwanis Club presents a
different guest speaker each week, as an educational program to update
our members and their guests on what's happening in our community and
surrounding areas. Join us to hear about unknown things.
You will be surprised at how many interesting things occur.

Club
Merger
At our March 19th Meeting our members
approved the proposed merger of the Rock Valley Kiwanis Club
with the Heritage Kiwanis Club, effective April 1, 2003.
Weekly meetings will continue to be held at the Stockholm Inn
each Wednesday, but they will begin at 7:00 AM. The
Heritage Club brings a proud history of accomplishment, many
dedicated members, and two Key Clubs (Pecatonica and Auburn
High Schools). We look forward to the friendship,
fellowship, and community support which will result from this
marriage. The new Club will be called the "Rock
Valley Heritage Kiwanis Club."

Afghan
Orphans Project
From October thru December 2002 the Rock
Valley Kiwanis Club coordinated support for Afghan Orphans,
whose needs had been poignantly identified by Lieutenant
Colonel John Gessner. Gessner, a Rockford native, was
serving in Afghanistan. As a result of our project,
almost $9,000 and approximately 350 packages of supplies were
sent to Afghanistan. For details on the Project,
On December 18th the Club celebrated its
success with the project by taking a breakfast "victory
lap" in a Hummer Limo. For pictures of the Victory
Lap, click here.

On October 22, 1999 our Club's Web Page went onto the
Internet. Address is: http://www.rockvalleykiwanis.com.
We have links to other
sites, and have asked those sites to reciprocate. The web site provides a means of keeping our members
informed as well as informing outsiders about Kiwanis and our Club.

IDD Update
| We achieved our Club's IDD goal of $9,900! With Kiwanis International Worldwide organization in
place to combat IDD, it only takes 5 cents to prevent the occurrence of
IDD in one person. Thus, with our $9,900 contribution, our Club will
have impacted 198,000 human beings, most of them children! That's
almost 200,000 that might have been afflicted with mental retardation and
physical deformity. Because of our efforts, they can lead normal
lives! We made a difference, folks! |
