Over the past month the students in Mrs. Mylin's third grade class at Whitman Post Elementary School have been "Pen Pals" with Lieutenant John Gessner in Afghanistan. Also, they have been busy collecting and packing for shipment items needed by the Afghan orphans Colonel Gessner has told them about. |

| On November 22nd the six boxes of items they had collected were shipped to Afghanistan. On the same day a large envelop arrived from Afghanistan. It contained an official Certificate of Appreciation from Bagram Air Base and an American flag which had previously flown over the base at Bagram. |
